President Trump announced that houses of worship are to be classified as ‘essential’ according to new CDC guidance. A move that is sure to anger some Democrat governors who have ordered them to shut down and even arrested or ticketed some folks for meeting in Church parking lots while staying in their cars.
“The governors need to do the right thing and allow these very important essential places of faith to open right now–for this weekend,” Trump said. “If they don’t do it, I will override the governors.”
Pastors around the country have been urging President Trump to classify churches as ‘essential’, citing that many families are dealing with multiple crises of lost jobs, illness, and financial woes.
Talking with reporters on Thursday, the President signaled he would be making an important announcement, regarding the issue, very soon.
He came through and answered the call of the faithful across the country.
"In America, we need more prayer not less," Trump said.
Whether you are one of the faithful or not there is an argument to be made that closing down places of worship is a violation of the first amendment.
Based on past statements by the Attorney General, William Barr, one would be inclined to think he seems to agree.
