LA Teacher’s Union Pushing Woke Agenda Instead of Math

Cecily Myart-Cruz, president of United Teachers Los Angeles, spoke to “LA Magazine” and made some bold claims. Myart-Cruz started off by saying, “there is no such thing as learning loss” even though all evidence points to the contrary. Remote learning has been a disaster for children across the country. After schools shut down in early 2020, the UTLA stipulated that teachers should not have to teach virtually for longer than 4 hours per day, and should still receive full pay. After the 4 hours were up, students were expected to complete assignments on their own. Almost two-thirds of the students in the district did not participate in this version of “school.” Almost all of the district’s 229,000 elementary students never logged on for remote learning.

Myart-Cruz does not concern herself with any of that. Instead, she remains focused on the ideological indoctrination of the children.

“It’s OK that our babies may not have learned all their times tables. They learned resilience. They learned survival. They learned critical-thinking skills. They know the difference between a riot and a protest. They know the words insurrection and coup.”

Before the fall semester of the 2020 school year, the union pushed hard to keep schools closed. They made the following written statement, “The COVID-19 pandemic in the United States underscores the deep equity and justice challenges arising from our profoundly racist, intensely unequal society.”

The UTLA like many other teachers’ unions across the nation, is continuing to abuse American children and hold their education hostage. The COVID situation has only given them more money and more bargaining power than they had before. However, this increased power has also brought increased transparency and visibility to parents – parents who should be filled with righteous anger, and a desire to bring these child abusing criminals to justice.
