Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly signed decrees recognizing the self-proclaimed breakaway republics of Donetsk and Luhansk in Eastern Ukraine.

The move is historic and will likely mean that a full scale shooting war between Russia and Ukraine is now imminent and may begin at any time, as it will put the Ukrainian government in an untenable situation and officially signals the end of the ‘Minsk’ peace process:
