Senate Democrats Will Force Vote on Abortion

After a leaked Supreme Court draft revealed the Court’s intent to overturn Roe v. Wade, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said he intends to force Republicans to go on record.

Democrats will reportedly target their Republican colleagues on exceptions for rape and incest, according to The Hill.

“Now that the court is poised to strike down Roe, it is my intention for the Senate to hold a vote on legislation to codify the right to an abortion in law,” he announced Tuesday morning.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin (D-IL) said party leaders will be “asking the senators to go on record on aspects of this, for instance rape and incest exceptions.”

Durbin also said that there is currently no discussion to expand the court, which liberal activists have long hoped for since President Joe Biden took office, nor are there plans to abolish the filibuster.

Removing the filibuster would give Democrats a better chance at passing legislation. However, Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) describe themselves as pro-life and do not support getting rid of the filibuster.

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) tweeted his support for the move and demanded actions, as did other progressives early this morning.

  1. Maybe we should force them to take in the Trump presidency and remove the fake president Xiden
When will put Trump up there and the Lefties will be howling for another 8 years??

  2. Such actions will show whether there really are any “moderate” Democrats in the House or Senate, or whether they just vote in lockstep the way they are told to vote.

  3. Nothing theyu pass is legal and cannot become law. It is over. The scam is exposed. You guys are no longer members of the Senate or Congress.

  4. You are either Pro-Life or Pro-Death. Take a choice and live with it. As for myself I don’t condone murder, but then I’m not a Socialist/Democrat.

  5. I wonder if he can actually force the vote. My understanding is that would require all the Democrats in the Senate to agree to force the vote. I suspect a few may not wish to go on record themselves. Perhaps a few of them are not sure they would be reelected if they had a recent vote on the issue.

  6. LET US ALL PRACTICE SOME DECENCY. THERE IS NO NEED FOR ABORTION IN THIS DAY, THERE ARE MANY ITEMS TO PREVENT PREGNANCY. IT IS THE IRRESPONSIBLE PEOPLE THAT GET PREGNANT.
WOMEN SHOULD HAVE MORE SELF CONTROL.THINK WITH YOUR BRAIN NOT WHATS BETWEEN YOUR LEGS, SAME GOES FOR THE GUYS, WHO WILL NOT WANT THE RESPONSIBILITY TO SUPPORT A MISTAKE FOR 18 YEARS.

  7. I believe this maneuver could backfire on Shumer. I think that at least 4 or 5 current Democrats are pro life, including Manchin and Sinema, as well as Testor from Montana, and Casey from Pa, and perhaps one or two more. This is a case of be careful what you wish for. On top of it all, this is just another political stunt by the left. hoping to avoid the impending disaster in Nov. We have a slowing, inflation plagued economy, heading towards a major recession by Nov. Ask Jimmy Carter about that–1980 all over again.
